Rejoining an Appliance with an Enterprise
An appliance that has been removed and restaged can rejoin an Imprivata enterprise. A new replacement appliance can also “rejoin” an enterprise by assuming the configuration of a previously removed appliance.
To bring a removed appliance back into an Imprivata enterprise:
-
On the Enterprise tab of the Imprivata Appliance Console, beside the name of the appliance that has been removed from the enterprise, click Authorize Replace. A dialog opens.
-
Select the serial number of the rejoining appliance, and enter a password to use when adding the appliance back into the enterprise.
-
Continue the procedure detailed in Adding an Appliance to the Enterprise.
Do Not Replace a G4 Database Appliance with an Unsupported Appliance Snapshot
If you remove a G4 (fourth generation) database appliance from a G4 enterprise and then want to add a replacement G4 database appliance to that enterprise, you must first restage the replacement appliance before adding it to the enterprise. If instead you add a snapshot of a G4 appliance to the enterprise, which is not supported, then database replication fails from the replacement appliance.
The workaround for this failure is to contact Imprivata Support and then after the Authorize Replace operation is completed, start a Synchronize Enterprise Database operation from the replacement appliance’s console. The Synchronize Enterprise Database option appears on the System page > Operations tab of that console.
To avoid the failure, restage the replacement appliance before adding it to the enterprise. The Restage Appliance option also appears on System page > Operations tab of the replacement appliance's console.
