Upgrades and Downgrades

After the first installation, you can upgrade, downgrade, or install a new Imprivata agent version with no interruption to the user experience:
-
Select the Imprivata IPM from the list in your computer policy and click Save. See Step 3b: Configure Agent Upgrade Settings.
-
Each Imprivata agent will download the new agent version after the next refresh interval. The default refresh interval is 10 minutes; you can change the refresh interval on the Imprivata Admin Console > gear icon > Settings page.
The download occurs "in the background" and has no impact on the user experience.
-
After the download is complete, the new version will not necessarily be installed immediately. The new version will be installed on each thin client when the login screen is open for 60 seconds and there's no keyboard or mouse activity. Alternatively, it can be configured to install a new version only when the thin clients are restarted. See Step 3b: Configure Agent Upgrade Settings.
-
The installation typically takes 10 seconds to complete. During the installation, login and authentication is disabled. An "updating" message is displayed. After the installation is complete, the Imprivata login screen reopens. The thin client does not need to restart.
NOTE: If more than one monitor was connected to the endpoint clients during the upgrade, restarting the endpoints is required.

You may need to downgrade an agent installation. For example, after an Imprivata agent upgrade is installed, you may encounter unexpected behavior on your thin clients that necessitates further testing. You can downgrade the Imprivata agent version in your production environment to an earlier version until you are ready to upgrade again.
-
Go to the Imprivata Admin Console > Computers > Computer Policies and click the name of the computer policy for your thin client environment.
-
On the General tab, go to the ProveID Embedded agent version section.
-
Select an earlier version to install from the list.
-
Click Save.
-
Each Imprivata agent downloads and installs the earlier version with no interruption of the user experience.
