Setting Up Multi-User Workstations
Imprivata can help you manage the security and user experience challenges posed by shared workstation environments.
Imprivata multi-user workstation solutions include:
-
The Workstation Hot Key, a feature that allows users to quickly secure a computer session by pressing a single key. The user’s session is suspended until the user returns. If another user logs into the workstation, then the original user is logged out. The Workstation Hot-Key feature is described in Setting a Hot Key to Lock a Workstation.
-
The Imprivata Shared Kiosk Workstation agent is designed for kiosk environments that require users with different needs to access one or more common workstation computers. When you use an Imprivata application on a shared workstation, all users on that workstation use a single Imprivata shared kiosk workstation agent. The Imprivata shared kiosk workstation agent logs into Windows and maintains a Windows session while individual users log in and out of an Imprivata application. The Imprivata shared kiosk workstation agent keeps track of the different user sessions. See The Shared Kiosk Workstation Agent.

Shared Workstation Computer Policies permit multiple Windows desktops on a single workstation. You can configure the number of concurrent desktops that a workstation can support, the period before an idle user is logged off, and settings for high load and normal load. These are all configured and deployed through computer policies so you can be specific about which computers support shared workstations.
