IP Connect

IP Connect is a driver in Customer Privileged Access Management (CPAM) that maps the remote host's IP address and hostnames to the administrator's local machine. With the IP Connect driver, CPAM administrators can also define hostnames or IPs for remote service connections. This component associates a customer's randomized hostnames and IPs to a CPAM user's local interface. IP Connect runs as a background service for all connections and sessions between CPAM vendors and customers.

This guide contains the process to install IP Connect in your local machine.

Requirements

To install the IP Connect Driver in your server, you must comply with one of the following:

  • Have the Admin Role in the CPAM server.

  • Have the DOWNLOAD_IPCONNECT permission in the custom role assigned to you.

How to Install IP Connect

To install IP Connect:

  1. Open your CPAM Administrator Console.

  2. Hover the Help menu.

  3. Select Download IP Connect from the drop-down.

  4. Select the IP Connect driver version according to your server's operating system.
The IP Connect executable file downloads.

  5. Execute the file.

After the installation is complete, you can now configure remote connection preferences.

Configurations for IP Connect

After your download IP Connect, you can set the preference on how your CPAM user account manages the IP Connect driver. You must set the configuration by user.

To open the configuration, find the user you want to configure. Follow the steps:

  1. Open the User List page.
Read the Users section of the System Administrator Guide for more information.

  2. Click the user that you want to configure.
    The User Details page opens.

  3. Click Edit on the top of the page.

  4. Modify the User Preference for IP Connect Mode.
This configuration is only available for Windows users. For other distributions, the IP Connect Driver uses the global server configuration.

  5. Click Save.

The IP Connect modes are:

Mode Description
Use global server configuration The mapping of IPs and hostnames follows the settings of the CPAM-server level.
Legacy IP Connect only The IP Connect maps Win32 TCP/IP functions with CPAM version that replace the hostname and IP addresses dinamically.
IP Connect Driver only The IP Connect uses a packet redirection driver to do the localhost and IP address mapping.
IP Connect Driver with Legacy fallback The mapping occurs with a packet, unless an error occurs, and the system falls back to mapping Win32 TCP/IP functions with CPAM versions.
Off The user does not map hostnames or IPs during the service connections.
