Configuring the Broadcom Contactless Smartcard Reader for Proximity Card Users
You can use MIFARE or iClass proximity cards with the Broadcom Contactless Smartcard reader embedded in some Dell laptops (Latitude E-series and some Precision laptops).
Enabling the Broadcom Contactless Smartcard Reader
On each affected laptop, run ushradiomode64.exe-n
from the command line at C:\Program Files\Broadcom Corporation Broadcom USH Host Component\CV\bin\
Using iClass Proximity Cards with the Broadcom Contactless Smart Card Reader
To use iClass cards, you must follow a few more steps:
- Stop and disable smart card certificate propagation. You can do this through Group Policy (CertPropEnabled) or on individual laptops from the Windows Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services> Certificate Propagation.
- Disable the Enterprise Access Management Broadcom provider:
- From the command line, run regedit.exe. Go to HKLM\Software\SSOProvider\DeviceManager\Devices\Prox\Providers\Broadcom\ and rename FactoryLoadID to ~FactoryLoadID
- Restart the computer.
NOTE: Broadcom will detect a fingerprint authentication demand before the proximity card demand. Users with user policies that permit both fingerprint and proximity card authentication must manually dismiss the fingerprint authentication dialog before they can authenticate via proximity card.
