About Imprivata PatientSecure
Your Imprivata PatientSecure installation begins with the PatientSecure Server Console, which manages the applications that support Imprivata PatientSecure.
The following diagram illustrates the Imprivata PatientSecure server and client components, as well as their relationship to an HL7 engine and EMRs in your environment.

Imprivata PatientSecure Database |
The Imprivata PatientSecure SQL Server database stores all patient information and biometrics. IMPORTANT: Follow best practices in maintaining, backing up, and recovering your database server. |
PatientSecure Identity (PSIS) | The PatientSecure Identity Server manages single sign-on access to Imprivata PatientSecure. |
PatientSecure Web Services (PSWS) | The PatientSecure Web Services provide access to Imprivata PatientSecure on the Web. |
PatientSecure Job Scheduler Service | The PatientSecure Job Scheduler (JOB) is a Windows service that is part of the PatientSecure Web Services. Its responsibility is to schedule and run any reports that are scheduled on a recurring basis. |
Imprivata PatientSecure Admin Console | The Imprivata PatientSecure Admin Console provides access to your Imprivata PatientSecure license, to settings for configuring your installation, and to Imprivata PatientSecure data in patient records and reports. |
PatientSecure HL7 Service (HL7) |
The PatientSecure HL7 Service manages HL7 messaging between Imprivata PatientSecure and the HL7 Listener. Your installation can have only one server running the HL7 service. |
PatientSecure User Interface (CLIENT) | The PatientSecure User Interface provides access to the client. |
PatientSecure System Health Service (HEALTH) |
The PatientSecure System Health Service provides information on the health and communication of the PatientSecure database and application server components to the PatientSecure System Health Dashboard in the Admin Console. |
PatientSecure Emergency Search & Authentication Services |
PatientSecure Emergency Search and Authentication Services provides access to Imprivata PatientSecure by emergency personnel to identify an unknown patient who cannot assist with their identification. |
PatientSecure Site Monitoring (PSSM) |
PatientSecure Site Monitoring is a data-collection service that runs from your Imprivata PatientSecure application server and outputs to the Site Monitoring URL you specify. NOTE: PSSM is installed with Emergency Search. To implement the site-monitoring website, work with your Imprivata PatientSecure representative. |
PatientSecure FHIR Service |
The PatientSecure FHIR service provides access to the HL7 FHIR API. |
PatientSecure EMPI Service | The PatientSecure EMPI service provides access to the APIs for EMPIs such as Verato and Initiate. |
