Connection Manager Java Web Start Application

As plugin technologies such as Java are continually deprecated, VPAM has transitioned to the Universal Connection Manager. For Windows users, beginning with release v5.4.12, the Universal Connection Manager (UCM) is now the default connection method presented when connecting to applications, along with the Java Web Start Application. The legacy connection method utilizing the user's local java browser plugin is still available and presented as a secondary, fallback connection method on each connection.

Connecting Using Java Web Start Application

To launch the Connection Manager Java Web Start application, select the link labeled You can also try connecting with the Connection Manager Java Web Start application This link appears after you click Connect.

Upon selecting the link to launch the connection manager the user will be prompted to save or run a JNLP file with a name similar to "securelinkcm" workstation.

If a user is prompted to select the application to open the file, they will need to select Java(TM) Web Start Launcher. Once the JNP client launched the users will likely be prompted to allow the client to run Java RE on their workstation.

When the Java Web Start Launcher has been allowed, the UCM will be displayed in a separate window, updating the status of the connection. After the connection cycle has completed the user's VPAM web page will update with the host and services page.

Gathering Logs in VPAM

Users can save Logs to their local workstation by selecting Save Diagnostics. This will gather extensive VPAM and system information required by our support team to efficiently troubleshoot connectivity issues.
