Desktop Settings
The desktop settings include many general settings that apply to all client types.

Review the desktop settings and make changes, as needed.
Item Description Audio feedback When capturing a palm vein scan for authentication, final enrollment or Emergency Search, play an audible beep to notify the patient that the scan is complete.
Requires the use of internal or USB speakers on an endpoint. In VDI environments, to receive audio on the host VM, attach a USB sound device to the endpoint and forward that to the VM,
The default setting is ON.
Bypass successful authentication screen On successful authentication, take user directly to patient record, skipping the Success screen.
The default setting is OFF.
NOTE: If used with Capture Picture, users will not see a patient photo, but will still be prompted to capture a patient photo during enrollment.
Success Timeout Specify the time (in milliseconds) until PatientSecure automatically closes after a successful identification, verification or enrollment.
The default is 10,000.
Use old (I-Format) biometric scan to identify patients Upon failing a touchless authentication scan during identification, this setting enables the system to capture an additional guided (full touch) authentication scan in an attempt to match against patients enrolled with an older (I-Format) biometric type.

When the setting is disabled, a patient will only be required to do a guideless identification and will not be prompted to perform a dual capture guided authentication.

When the setting is enabled, the patient will be prompted to do a guideless identification then a guided identification if the guideless identification fails.
The default is OFF.
Capture picture
Enable patient photos to be taken during enrollment or authentication.
The default setting is OFF.
NOTE:-
Not recommended for use with Bypass successful authentication screen enabled.

Photo captures include the date when the photo was taken. This date reflects the client system date, which may not conform to the Time Zone setting.

For iris installations, this setting is usually ON. For facilities that have removed photo capture, for privacy or other reasons, retain the default (OFF) setting.
Allow photo-only workflows For palm installations, enable photo-only with Enroll and Verify workflows, bypassing the palm scan.
The default setting is OFF.
When this setting is enabled, the Capture Picture setting must also be ON.
When enabled, the photo-only enrollments and verifications count towards opt-outs on the Dashboard.
Allow pan tilt zoom Enable the zoom, pan, and tilt functionality of the camera used to take patient photos.
This setting enables or disables local settings on the Photo Capture screen.
The default setting is OFF.
Enable TCP/IP traffic for EMR to Client communications Enable the support for legacy integrations using TCP/IP traffic between the EMR and the PatientSecure Gateway component.
The default setting is OFF.
PatientSecure port Specify the port on which the Imprivata PatientSecure Client receives incoming requests.
The default setting is 2244.
PatientSecure timeout Set the amount of time (in seconds) without activity on the client before the session times out automatically.
The timeout timer can potentially be reset if the Allow Disabling of Timeout Timer, Allow Pausing of Timeout Timer, or Allow Timeout Reset on Activity setting is enabled.
The default setting is 90.
NOTE: For Cerner installations, enter 285.
Allow re-enrollments Allow users to re-enroll patient scans that are problematic.
Users should follow their original procedure to verify the patient's identity.
For users who are verifying the identity with a photo identification, they should follow that procedure.
Authenticate with date of birth only Limit the fields displayed on the Authentication screen to the date of birth (DOB) field only.
The default setting is ON.
Client log level
Select the depth of information to capture in logs:

Trace is the most granular level, logging every event. This level is recommended only in extreme situations, as it quickly produces a large number of log entries.

Debug is the second most granular level, producing the most detailed logs. We recommend using the Debug level for troubleshooting.

Error is the default setting.

Critical is the least granular, producing the least detailed logs.
You can also set log levels for server machines.
Log Level Reset Interval The number of days before Server log level and Client log level reverts to Error level.
When you change the server log level, this setting specifies the number of days before the logs revert the to the default Error level.
The default setting is seven (7) days.
Date display format Specify the date format to display.
The default setting is: MM/dd/yyy.
Minimum age limit Set the minimum age at which a patient may enroll, be identified, or verified in Imprivata PatientSecure.
This limit should be set according to the individual hospital policies for the minimum age for enrolling a child's biometric information.
If the child's age is below the minimum age limit, the ongoing workflow will be prevented.
The default age is 7.
Valid values: 5 through 18.
Rescan age limit Set the maximum age at which a child must be re-enrolled annually.
The default age is 15.
PatientSecure today's usage - enable desktop notification Display a brief notification bubble to each user after each authentication and enrollment, showing the department's daily usage.
The default setting is ON.
PatientSecure daily, weekly, monthly Usage - PatientSecure menu Select the level for which the PatientSecure menu Usage dialog should display for daily, weekly, and monthly authentication and enrollment counts.

User. Displays the usage statistics by user. This is the default.

Machine. Displays the statistics for all usage on the machine.
Select this level when the machine is a shared workstation with a single Windows account.
PatientSecure today's usage - data display level Select the level to display the day's authentication and enrollment counts in the desktop notification:

Department. Displays the usage statistics by department. This is the default.

Machine. Displays the statistics for all usage on the machine.
Select this level when the machine is a shared workstation with a single Windows account.

User. Displays the usage statistics by user.
Enable emergency search Enable the Emergency Search feature. For more information, see Emergency Search.
The default setting is OFF.
Multiple appointment check-ins with PatientSecure Enable registrars to check a patient in for multiple appointments by scanning their palm once.
For example, when a patient checks in for multiple appointments that day - a doctor’s appointment, a lab visit, and an x-ray appointment, the registrar can scan the patient once, and then bypass the scans on subsequent verifications.
The default setting is OFF.
NOTE:-
This feature only applies to patients who are verifying on the same machine with the same user without a restart of the PatientSecure client.

A failed authentication will restart the workflow from the beginning.
-
Do not enable this setting for kiosk workflows.
Time-out When checking a patient in for multiple appointments, allow the confirmation screen on the PatientSecure client to time out and close after three seconds.
The default setting is OFF.
Allow enrollment without a valid ID Allows the registrar to indicate on the PatientSecure client that a patient is being enrolled without presenting a valid ID.
The patient record is flagged and can be updated on subsequent visits when a valid ID is presented.
The default setting is OFF.
When this feature is disabled, PatientSecure marks all enrollments as being enrolled with a valid ID, as well as any enrollments done during previous releases of PatientSecure, in the case of an upgraded environment.
Allow enrollment from verification Allows the registrar to enroll a patient directly from the verification workflow when the patient identifier is not enrolled.
The default setting is ON.
IMPORTANT:The following features require the installation of the PatientSecure FHIR service and the configuration of an external system to connect to the FHIR APIs. The available settings depend on the type of integration your environment is configured with.
Search the EMR from the PatientSecure client Enables the registrar to search the EMR from the PatientSecure client for the correct patient and enroll them in PatientSecure if authentication fails.
Only available for Cerner EMR, Epic EMR, or Verato MPI integrations.
The default setting is OFF.
Search for patient by full address instead of only ZIP code When the registrar is searching for the patient record in the EMR, allow the registrar to enter the patient's complete address instead of just the ZIP code.
Only available for the Epic EMR or Verato MPI integrations.
The default setting is OFF.
Disable required search fields When the registrar is searching for a patient in the EMR from the PatientSecure client, the date of birth and last name are no longer required.
Only available for Verato integrations.
The default settings is OFF.
Create patient in the EMR from the PatientSecure client Allows the registrar to create a net new patient record in the EMR from the PatientSecure client and enroll the patient in PatientSecure.
Only available for Cerner EMR or Epic EMR integrations.
The default setting is OFF.
Update palm for enrolled patients When enabled, PatientSecure checks whether the selected patient in the EMR search results is already enrolled in PatientSecure and displays next steps accordingly.

For this setting to take effect, the Allow re-enrollments setting must also be enabled.
The default setting is OFF.
