System Health Dashboard

The Imprivata PatientSecure System Health Dashboard monitors the status of the Imprivata PatientSecure components and displays color-coded status indicators for the PatientSecure servers and clients.

To access the System Health Dashboard:

From the Admin Console menu, select Troubleshooting > Open PatientSecure System Health Dashboard.

Status Indicators - High Level

The System Health Dashboard uses several color-coded indicators to display the high level status of the PatientSecure environment.

Hover the mouse over the status icon to view a tooltip with additional information.

  • Operational (no icon) - The server, service, or website is operational.

  • Running (blue) - Indicates that a job is currently running.

  • Alert (orange) - The server, service, or website is experiencing some disruption in service. For example, a running SQL Server job may be frozen, or a component may be encountering problems communicating with other components.

  • Outage (red) - The server, service, or website has an outage and is not available. The service may not be communicating with other PatientSecure components.

  • Information unavailable (gray) - There is no information available for this server, service, or website.

Status Indicators in High Availability Environments

In High Availability PatientSecure environments, hover the mouse over the status icon to view a tooltip with additional information on the individual server.

For example, HL7 Sender, HL7 Listener, and HL7 Processor include information on which server the service is running.

Dashboard Sections

The System Health Dashboard displays statuses in the following sections:

Item Description Notes
High level status

Displays a brief summary of the PatientSecure database and application servers in your environment.

Icons display the status of your PatientSecure environment, guiding you to inspect individual PatientSecure services or components.

Displays the timestamp of the last refresh.

Events Displays the event notifications of individual PatientSecure events, and scheduled database jobs or tasks, including HL7 status notifications.
  Database Maintenance

Icons display the status of the database maintenance job that runs on a periodic basis.

  • Operational (no icon) - indicates that the job is currently idle.

  • Running (blue) - indicates that the job is currently running.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates one of the following conditions:

    • The job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 30 minutes.

    • The Database Maintenance job was disabled in the General Settings page.

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 60 minutes.

  EMPI System

Note: Integration with EMPI is optional. If your environment was not configured for EMPI, this System notification will not be displayed.

An alert indicates that there is a disruption or outage in the PatientSecure EMPI service.

  HL7 Biometric Purge

Icons display the status of the HL7 Biometric Purge job.

This job removes biometrics from patients that have had no activity in a long time.

When a customer wants to (or is legally required to) remove biometric data for these patients, this process will perform that action.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the job has not run within 48 hours

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job has not run within the past 7 days.

  HL7 Received

Icons display the status of the HL7 inbound feed.

  • Information unavailable - indicates that PatientSecure has not received any HL7 events, and may indicate an issue with connectivity of the inbound HL7 feed.

  HL7 Sent An alert indicates that PatientSecure has not sent any HL7 events, and may indicate an issue with connectivity of the HL7 feed.
  Interactions

Icons display the status of the Interactions job that runs every 15 minutes. This job calculates patient interactions such as enrollments and authentication scans.

  • Operational (no icon) - indicates that the job is currently idle.

  • Running (blue) - indicates that the job is currently running.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 30 minutes.

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 60 minutes.

  Patient Privacy Intelligence

Icons display the status of the Patient Privacy Intelligence job.

This job sends PatientSecure Admin Console usage data to

Patient Privacy Intelligence to identify potential misuses of the system.

Note: Integration with Patient Privacy Intelligence is optional. If your environment was not configured for Patient Privacy Intelligence, this System notification will not be displayed.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the job has not run within 48 hours

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job has not run within the past 7 days.

  Scheduled reports

Icons display the status of the scheduled reports.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the scheduled report has failed one or two consecutive attempts

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the scheduled report has failed three or more consecutive attempts

  Silhouette Analysis

Icons display the status of the silhouette analysis job.

This job scans the enrolled I-Format biometrics in your database, determines those that do not meet the quality standards, and recommends them for deletion.

  • Operational (no icon) - indicates that the job is currently idle.

  • Running (blue) - indicates that the job is currently running.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 30 minutes.

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 60 minutes.

Hover your mouse over the tooltip to view details about the phase of the job, timestamp of the last update, and the number of items processed.

  Silhouette Binarization

Icons display the status of the Silhouette Binarization job.

This job converts the original silhouette image, captured during enrollment and authentication, into a smaller format, reducing the amount of disk space used by the database.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the job has not run within 48 hours

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job has not run within the past 7 days.

Service Status

Displays the status of the PatientSecure database and the status of the Windows services and websites that comprise the PatientSecure application servers in your environment.

For High Availability PatientSecure environments, the Service Status section represent the system as a whole, and should be considered a high-level view of the system - as long as one of each component is running on at least one application server, the system as a whole is functioning properly. In addition, each of the application servers could be reporting an outage, but the whole system is fine.

Servers

Displays the status of all server-specific components or alerts for each application server in a High Availability PatientSecure environment. The Servers section will not be displayed for environments containing only one PatientSecure application server.

Servers are listed in alphabetical order by server name.

In PatientSecure High Availability application server environments, if one or more of your servers will be a standby or failover server, or you do not wish the server status to be tracked by the System Health Dashboard, in the PatientSecure Server Console, switch the server's Monitor server setting to OFF. Disabled servers will display their name, with a message indicating that they are not being monitored.

Configuration

Displays alerts for certain PatientSecure environmental configuration issues. Alerts in the Configuration section can be due to one of the following causes:

  • a required resource or setting was not configured or was configured incorrectly.

  • a setting for the component in PatientSecureAdmin Console was disabled.

  • a required file share was not configured, or has an issue in connectivity.

  External Systems

An alert indicates that there are no external systems configured in the PatientSecure Admin Console.

  HL7 Outbound Paused Notification

An alert indicates that the HL7 Outbound Pause setting in the Admin Console is enabled and has paused the sending of HL7 requests outbound.

  Location Configuration

An alert indicates that there are no locations configured in PatientSecure Admin Console.

  PatientSecure License
  • An alert indicates that the license is within 90 days of expiring.

  • An outage indicates that the license is within 30 days of expiring.

  • A tooltip displays when the license has expired.

  Patient Identifier Import

Icons display the status of the patient identifier import job. This job imports patient identifiers into PatientSecure.

  • Operational (no icon) - indicates that the job is not currently running.

  • Running (blue) - indicates that the job is currently running.

  • Alert (orange) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 30 minutes.

  • Outage (red) - indicates that the job was running, but has been frozen for longer than 60 minutes, or if the job failed.

  Scheduled Reports File Share

An alert may indicate that a file share for scheduled reports has not been configured, or that there are network connectivity issues accessing the share.

  System File Share An alert may indicate that a file share has not been configured, or that there are network connectivity issues accessing the share. For more information on configuring file shares, see Configuring File Shares.
  Utilization File Share

An alert may indicate that Utilization Reporting is enabled, but the utilization file share may be in one of the following conditions:

  • No file shares are configured for utilization reporting.

  • No file shares are selected

  • The selected file share no longer exists.

  Unmapped Machines

An alert indicates that there are unmapped client machines in the PatientSecure environment.
Unmapped client machines do not affect the overall health of the PatientSecure system.

Machine Level Status

Use the navigation pane to navigate through the organization to the desired location to view the status of PatientSecure clients in that location.

To set the page refresh interval, select an interval from the drop-down list. The default is every 5 minutes.

Status Indicators - Machine Level

  • Active Today (green checkmark icon) - indicates that the client machine has been active today.

  • Moderate inactivity (blue timer icon) - Indicates that the client machine has been active in the past, but has experienced some period of inactivity.

  • Extended inactivity (red timer icon) - Indicates that the client machine has been active in the past, but has experienced an extended period of inactivity.

  • Information unavailable - Indicates that the client machine's activity is unknown.

Clients

Displays the health of all of the active PatientSecure client machines.

Displays the machine name, machine type (PC or Kiosk), the timestamp the machine was last active in the time zone of the PatientSecure Admin Console, or the local time zone when the Admin Console time zone is not available.

  • For machines with activity - Displays the machines in chronological order.

  • For machines with moderate inactivity - Displays the machines in chronological order, with the timestamp of the last activity that the machine had in PatientSecure.

  • For machines with extended inactivity - Displays the machine name alphabetically, with the timestamp of the last activity that the machine had in PatientSecure.

Client Component Health

The health of the PatientSecure clients is based on an analysis of the individual Windows services that comprise the PatientSecure client software. The rows in the Machine Level Status display the health of the individual PatientSecure client components (Gateway, Hub, and Client).

  • The Machine Name column displays the client type: PC or Kiosk.

Statuses

  • A status of N/A is displayed for a PatientSecure client component that has never started on the client machine. This can occur when the component has never been installed on the machine, or that the component has been installed, but never run.

  • A status of Information unavailable is displayed for a PatientSecure client component immediately after upgrading PatientSecure , but before the client is used.

  • A status of Active Today is displayed for a PatientSecure client component that has been active today.

  • A status of Moderate Inactivity is displayed for a PatientSecure component has been active in the past, but has experienced some period of inactivity. This alert is generated by the timeout defined in the Moderate inactivity threshold setting.

  • A status of Extended inactivity is displayed for a PatientSecure component has been active in the past, but has experienced an extended period of inactivity. This alert is generated by the timeout defined in the Extended inactivity threshold setting.
